please wear your sunnies!

Somebody who wasn't wearing their sunnies crashed into the back of my car last week. Nobody was seriously hurt, I had a little bit of whiplash, nothing to worry about. The driver of the other vehicle (written off I'm guessing!-see pic) said they couldn't see anything due to the bright sun. Well my poor little posterior was a little bit wounded as you can see- but thankfully it WAS my car she couldn't see and not a pedestrian or baby buggy. Moral of this story- if you "can't see anything" perhaps it's not such a clever idea to be driving around, or perhaps try sticking on your sunnies!
-I have drawn a few style choices that she might consider in the future!

Paris Metro Poster

Here are a couple of photos that my client in Paris (merci Anne) has sent me of my poster in the Paris Metro. I was hoping to go over to take a few photos myself (and re-see the Giacometti exhibition at the Pompidou centre -go see this if you can, it's fantastic), but I just haven't had the time. Apparently the posters are due to come down today.

Speaking of exhibitions, I went to see the Louise Bourgeois show at Tate Modern last Friday evening- WOW!!. This has got to be one of the most stimulating exhibitions I have seen in years. Whatever you do, make sure you see this before it's over (20 Jan).

Photos- Italy

Here are just a few photos I took on the Venice and Florence trip. I won't bore you with a whole heap of pics here; I'm gonna set up a flickr page to show more photos and sketches from the trip- I'll let you know the link when I've sorted it.
Gees, it's been an absolute age since I was here, not that I've truly got into the blogger swing of things yet anyway I must confess! It's just been so crazy lately; work coming out of my ears. Also, I've been busy planning a well deserved holiday...Paris for a day or two, then Venice for a week (we've managed to find an apartment on the gran canal!!!), then see where the wind (or should I say rain?) takes us! I'm brushing up on my Italian and can't wait- just over a week to go, then we're off. Sketchbook to the ready- hopefully I'll have lots of pages to share upon my return...

alfresco!

The sun was shining yesterday, and so I decided to take advantage of this momentary glitch in the British Summer and took myself outside to do some sketching... rain forecast for this afternoon (surprise surprise!)... anyway here are some fruits of yesterday:

vultures

Vultures make a sinister appearance in a campaign for the ILO that I've been working on... here are a couple of the preliminary sketches.

the debutante

I have been rereading an old book of mine which is filled with some amazing short stories. "The Debutante" by Leonora Carrington is just too fantastic to pass up and so I have started depicting it here... I shall carry on with it, but quite liked the way it is looking at the moment so thought I'd post it in it's unfinished state anyway!

cowboy 1

I seem to find myself drawing a lot of cowboys lately...? Well here's one of them and I shall probably post some of his friends another time.
